Tension has heightened in Enugu State following the brutal murder of the traditional ruler of Nkerefi Community and three other persons by yet-to-be identified gunmen.
It was gathered that the assassins killed the traditional ruler and three other persons in the early hours of Saturday.
The Enugu State Police Command public relations officer (PPRO) Ebere Amaraizu, who confirmed the incident, vowed that the police will bring the perpetrators to book.
A group of men armed with guns and machets attacked Mgbanaocha Nkerefi Community, killing their traditional ruler, Igwe P. A. Onuoha, Ejike Udeme Uzor, Evelyn Udeme Uzor and Daniel Ogbu.
“The command is working relentlessly to ensure that those behind the alleged murder are unmasked and brought to book. It was gathered that in the early hours of Saturday at Nkerefi in Nkanu-east LGA of Enugu State, yet-to-be identified group of men armed with guns and machets had allegedly attacked Mgbanaocha Nkerefi, killing their traditional ruler Igwe P.A Onuoha, Ejike Udeme Uzor, Evelyn Udeme Uzor, Daniel Ogbu inflicting several matchet cuts on their bodies as well as neck over a yet to be known reason/reasons which brought about their deaths,” he said.
