President Muhammadu Buhari will inaugurate his administration’s National Economic Council (NEC) on Monday, after which it will hold its first sitting.
It will be inaugurated in the council chambers of the Presidential Villa, Abuja, and it will fine-tune the roadmap that will actualise the economic policies of the new administration.
As usual, it will be chaired by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and comprises all the 36 state governors. The permanent secretaries of the ministries of Finance, National Planning and Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor will also be members of the council.
Section 18 of the Constitution provides for the NEC to serve as an advisory body to the President on the economy.
