Despite BVN, govt asks bank account holders to register again

In what many critics have described as ill-advised, the federal government has said all owners of an account with financial institutions must undergo a self-certification process.

The directive was announced on the federal government’s Twitter handle. According to it, account-holders are required to obtain, complete and submit the self-certification forms to their respective financial institutions.

The government said individuals who hold accounts in different financial institutions would have to collect and submit separate forms to each one of the institutions.
