The wife of the late governor of Oyo State, Florence Ajimobi, has faulted the state government over the way it handled her husband’s case.
Former governor Abiola Ajimobi had died last Friday and was buried in Ibadan on Sunday. His widow accused the state government of shoddy handling of her husband’s case whom she said was bedridden for about a month.
According to her, her husband who served the state for eight years as governor deserved better than what he got from the state government. She said that the family didn’t contact Governor Makinde or anybody in government for any support during her husband’s illness, adding that the family never sent a proxy to the government.
The widow while receiving the delegation of the state government led by the deputy governor, Mr Rauf Olaniyan, said although she was not supposed to talk, she spoke for the first time since her husband fell ill about a month ago and eventually died because of the misgivings that had emanated from the government.
She appealed to the government to stop what she called “dirty politics”, because her husband even in death deserved some respect.
