Tongues Wag Over Buhari’s New Benz

President Muhammadu Buhari’s new Mercedes Benz car unveiled at his inauguration today has opened new flanks for criticism.

Already, Buhari’s critics and supporters are having a heated debate on social media over the 2019 Mercedes Benz S-Class S560 Maybach with a street value of almost N100million or much more if the model is bulletproof.

The debate on the necessity of such luxury is generating a long thread under a post by a journalist, Roses Moses, on Facebook.

She was wondering in the post if there was a need for such a purchase when nothing is said to be wrong with the 2015 model that the President was using.

The post stated that not those that “are said to be wasteful are really the wasteful ones”.

Some of the commentators, however, came to Buhari’s defence arguing that his predecessors did more than that.
