The fire reportedly broke out at about 10.30 am this morning at one of the hangers at the Lagos entry point and ravaged the aircraft.

A witness said the plane was undergoing check when it went up in flames.

The Overland plane, it was learnt, was  badly burnt while some other chartered aircraft also undergoing checks at the hanger also suffered various degrees of burnt.

Meanwhile, the fire fighting department of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, FAAN, later put out the fire.

The spokesperson for Accident Investigations Bureau (AIB), Tunji Oketunbi confirmed the incident and said: ”investigators have already gone to the scene. When they come back, we will be in a better position to know what happens.”
