At least 30 people have reportedly been killed in a suicide attack suspected to be carried out by the Boko Haram sect in Mubi, Adamawa state.
A source told TheCable that the attacker struck while prayers were ongoing inside the mosque.
Othman Abubakar, spokesman of the Adamawa police command, confirmed the tragic incident but did not give the casualty figure.
“A boy of about 17 years entered into a mosque and proceeded to where the Muslim worshippers were and detonated an improvised explosive device. So many, above twenty died in the incident,” he told TheCable.
Abubakar said a statement would be issued later.
Mubi suffered a series of attacks during the height of insurgency in the north-east.
The latest attack comes a few days after four suicide bombers struck in neighbouring Borno state.
