Super Falcons of Nigeria move to 34th in latest Fifa rankings

Nigeria senior women team moved to 34th position in the first quarter of 2017 Fifa rankings released on Friday.

 

Florence Omagbemi’s ladies start 2017 as Africa’s best ahead of Ghana, Cameroon, Equatorial Guinea and South Africa.

 

Following their African Women’s Cup of Nations debut in Cameroon, Kenya continue their rise moving up 12 places just as Rwanda, Malawi, Uganda and Botswana.

 

Overall, Germany sit atop the ranking with reigning world champions in second place as France stayed untouched in third place

 

Italy and Czech Republic suffered the biggest slip dropping three places. And relisted on the rankings were; Azerbaijan, Afghanistan, Bhutan while Jordan, Haiti, Fiji, Tonga, New Caledonia, Cuba, Congo, Dominican Republic, Cook Islands, Solomon Islands, Samoa, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Grenada, Dominica, Aruba were dropped out due to prolonged inactivity.

 

The next Fifa ranking will be published on Friday, June 23, 2017.
