The Nigeria Dream Team VI at the ongoing Rio 2016 olympic lost 2-0 to Columbia in their thirda and final group match.
The match which was played at the Arena Corinthians in Sao Paulo, Brazil on Thursday morning saw Coach Samson Siasia making five changes to the team that defeated Japan and Sweden in the first two matches to qualify for the knock out stages.
Coach Siasia Daniel Akpeyi, Kingsley Madu, Aminu Umar, Popoola Saliu and Ndifreke Udo in place of Emmanuel Daniel, Abdullahi Shehu, Imoh Ezekiel, Stanley Amuzie and Usman Muhammed.
Some of those changes were responsible for both goals in favour of Columbia. Goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi was late to rush out of his area when Teofilo Guitierrez was set free into the penalty box with a through ball in the fourth minute. The Colombian player easily niche the ball past the hapless keeper.
In the 63rd minute Akpeyi knocked down a Colombian player in the box who was through on goal. The referee pointed to the spot and Dorlan Pabon fiercely stroked the ball into the net.
But despite the loss, the Nigeria Dream Team still remain top of the group and through to the quarter final.
