The Lagos State governor, Akinwunmi Ambode has sounded a stern note of warning to criminal elements in the state to leave immediately or risk facing the wrath of the law.
The governor made this known while addressing the press on the successful rescue operation of the three students of Babington Macualay Junior Seminary in Ikorodu.
According to the governor, “Let me warn that the State Government will not tolerate kidnapping or any forms of crime in the State.”
“Our position is clear and unambiguous, Lagos state has the capacity and the will to go after every form of crime and criminality in order to safeguard lives and property in the state.”
The governor at the same time appreciated the concerted efforts of the Lagos State Police command, the Department of State Security and members of the Armed forces who he said worked tirelessly round the clock within the last six days to secure the release of the girls.
The governor also confirmed the arrest of one of the suspected kidnappers, Emmanuel Arigidi who he said was arrested during the rescue operations.
“The three girls have been safely re-united with their families and the Government wishes to assure Lagosians that their security is top priority and it will not relent in ensuring that Lagos remains safe and secure,” Governor Ambode said.
