Group Calls Fayose’s Prosecution For Treason
A civil society group, the Value and integrity group, has called on the federal government to investigate the illegal use of the military and the criminal diversion of N4.8 billion for the Ekiti state governorship elections which facilitated the victory of governor Ayodele Fayose.
In a statement signed by the coordinator of the the group, Sina Odugbemi, Fayoses’s conduct and the collaborative antics of members of the PDP led government were in violation of the electoral laws and laws of the country.
Similarly the confessions made by some of people who participated in the electoral manipulations corroborated the acts of massive rigging during the elections and financial fraud.
The group also accused the Governor and his media aide, Lere Olayinka of double standards. They accused the duo of affirming their participation in the fraud while at the same time accusing the former secretary to PDP in Ekiti state of perjury.
The group also pledged to support Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Femi Falana’s drive to ensure that the governor is prosecuted.
“Up till now, Mr. Fayose’s lawyers have not been able to challenge the ingenuous submission of Mr. Falana that the immunity of a governor cannot save Mr. Fayose from prosecution for grave electoral offences. Happily, the State Security Service is reported to have commenced investigation into the matter as the use of armed soldiers for elections borders on treasonsble felony. “
