Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose has denied being involved in the election malpractices and rigging during the 2014 governorship election as claimed by the former state secretary of the Peoples Democratic party in Ekiti State , Tope Aluko.
Governor Fayose described the revelations made by Aluko as an unnecessary rant and outburst of a frustrated politician. he described Aluko’s action as an act perjury as Aluko had previously testified the election petition tribunal in the state.
The Governor equated Aluko’s interview to a coup against the people of Ekiti State.
“His actions are regrettable and uncalled for, what was he waiting for until now, he is moving against the will of Ekiti people who voted me as governor and that to me is equal to a coup”
On allegations of the PDP using the military to intimidate the opposition during the governor said , ” i am not a military officer, so how can i command the soldiers as claimed by the opposition and their sympathisers”
The governor also used the opportunity to call on the All people’s Congress (APC) to wait until 2018 before coming up with more theatrics of taking over the government house. “There is no vacancy for now if you want to be governor wait until 2018 before you can win another election in Ekiti”
