A court of appeal sitting in Makurdi, Benue state has nullified the election of former Senate president David Mark.
The court faulted the decision of the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) to declare the candidate of peoples Democratic party,(PDP) David mark the winner of the March 28 Senatorial election in Benue south.
David mark victory was challenged by his closest rival of the All Progressive Congress(APC) candidate, Donald Onjeh.
The court ruled that a rerun of the poll must be conducted within 90days.
In a swift reaction, the former senate president said he won the March 28 Parliamentary election in Benue south senatorial district and will win again if the election is conducted 100 times.
In a statement released by Mark’s media aide, Paul Mumeh said the fifth term legislator called for calm over the appeal court.
“I won the election clean and clear. If we go back to the polls 100 times, I will still win convincingly,” the statement read.
“Whatever the situation may be, one thing I know is that my people are solidly behind me.
