Buhari Appoints Prof. Yakubu As New INEC Chief

President Buhari has appointed Yakubu Mahmud as new Chairman of Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC).

Briefing the state house correspondents, the Sokoto state governor, Aminu Tambuwal said the appointment was in line with the constitution and in consultation with Council of State .

Prof. Yakubu would take over from the Acting chairman of the commission, Amina Zakari who is now the INEC Commissioner representing the North- West.
