Nigeria and UK’s report on capital markets reform which will review and make recommendations for reforms that will deepen the Nigerian capital markets and attract domestic and international investments will soon be unveiled in Lagos.
Mr Wale Adebayo, Communication Manager, British Deputy High Commission in Lagos, said in a statement on Friday that Mr. Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede, President, Nigerian Stock Exchange and Sir Roger Gifford, an expert on United Kingdom Emerging Capital Markets, will jointly unveil the report
Adebayo added that the report would focus on the integrity of the market, regulatory infrastructure, market incentives, barriers and market development.
Morever, the report, which was produced by the Law Society of England & Wales and the Nigeria Capital Market Solicitors Association, would help to identify areas of capital market development where the combination of UK and Nigeria private and public sector expertise would increase capital flows between Nigeria and the UK for mutual benefit.
“Nigeria-UK Capital Markets Project” was launched in Lagos last year by the UK and Nigeria. In 2013, the UK’s Foreign and Commonwealth Office launched the Emerging Capital Markets Taskforce under the umbrella of HM Treasury’s Financial Services Trade and Investment Board,” Adebayo said.
